Today, the new zooms, Schneider 75-150LS Blue Ring and Schneider 40-80LS Blue Ring lenses have been added to the Schneider Blue Ring lens lineup.
If you’re not familiar with the Blue Ring lens line here is a short history. In 2015, Schneider Kreuznach and Phase One announced a line of “Blue Ring” leaf shutter lenses would slowly replace the Schneider LS lens lineup. Initially the 35LS and 120LS were launched with this new design, quickly followed by Blue Ring versions of the 55LS, 80LS, and 150LS. In March of 2016 the 110LS and 240LS were updated to Blue Ring.
When we show these new lenses to clients the first thing they notice is build quality. These are all metal lenses that are rock solid in build, responsive to manually focus, and designed to last. We also appreciated the smaller touches, like the all metal, vertically laser-etched grip, rubber tipped hood, and easy-to-find-without-looking AF/MF switch built into the lens.
Notably, all Schneider LS Blue Ring lenses, like their predecessors, cover full-frame 645 sensors, such as those in the Phase One IQ3 100mp. They are designed for 100mp resolution and beyond.
Introducing the 75-150LS BR and 40-80LS BR
The new two zooms use the same great optics as their previous iterations, but incorporate the build quality, industrial design, and serialization features of the Blue Ring lineup.
This nearly completes the transition from Schneider LS to Schneider LS Blue Ring. We’ll have these new lenses, along with the rest of the Schneider Blue Ring lineup, in our rental and demo inventory.
