Phase One has raised the bar in the medium format market with its announcement of the new DF camera and Schneider lenses with a Flash Sync speed up to 1/1600 of a second. This new technology truly enables photographers more ways to be creative. However, since the announcement we haven’t been able to see many files that illustrate this new feature.
The shots below were taken using a P 65+ with a Phase One 645DF camera, the new 80mm lens from Schneider and a Broncolor Scoro A4s. To compare the shot, we also used a 80mm Phase One focal plane lens.
This shot was taken in order to freeze a spinning ball on a finger. On the left we have the 1/125 and on the right the shot at 1/1600.
The ball is blurry in the image shot at 1/125 and the shot at 1/1600 is frozen in time. You can read the Adidas name clearly. Zoom is 100% on each ball.
Below are some more examples of what the 645DF camera and Schneider lenses can achieve:
With this image, the idea was to capture the ball while it bounced back to the hand after hitting the floor.
Zoom at 100% on the ball.
Here is an example of someone jumping and moving his hands.
Zoom at 100% on the feet.
